About Trisomy 18 and the Reason for a Day of GraceDear Friends, both old and new; On December 15, after thirteen days of life that impacted so many people, Emma returned to Heaven to watch over all of us. Everything that happened during those tragic days was completely unexpected. We have come to the conclusion that research money is the one, and most important, avenue for us to limit the impact that Trisomy 18 has on our families. We thank you for your participation, kindness and generosity in our efforts to maximize the funds we can earmark for research into the cause, prevention and treatment of Trisomy 18. Thank You
so much- Bess & Matt Raulerson Trisomy 18 is a disorder in which there are three
chromosomes in the 18th position instead of the normal pair. It is the second
most common trisomy, after Trisomy 21 (also known as Down’s Syndrome). Unlike
Down’s Syndrome, Trisomy 18 is usually fatal, with half of the babies not making
it to term and 90 percent of those that do typically living no more than a few
months to one year. At present there is no treatment and no cure. The
need for research on this condition is great. We believe in a different future
for families and their children diagnosed with Trisomy 18. Won’t you join us in
changing the world for them? |
